Automatic The Sims 4 NPC Generation Mod Pack: No More NPC Downloads

Every player of The Sims 4 encounters this frustration. You create the perfect Sims 4 family, build your dream sims house, explore the town... and suddenly, there HE is. An NPC sim in a snorkeling mask, with purple skin, wearing an evening gown and hiking boots.

There are several ways to prevent silly and immersion-breaking NPCs from spawning in The Sims 4. For example, you can manually fill your world with your own sims and install a mod that completely disables random NPC generation. Alternatively, you can use MC Command Center (MCCC) to generate Sims 4 NPCs from your Gallery by downloading character packs and assigning them special hashtags in the MCCC settings (learn more about this process in this article).

I've tested different approaches and, honestly, I decided I no longer want to stress about downloading NPC packs or fully blocking NPC generation in The Sims 4. That's why I assembled this Sims 4 mod pack: it automates the process and allows the game to generate decent NPCs automatically, with minimal effort on your part.

After spending a long time researching and trying out different Sims 4 mods, I finally put together the perfect, most logical combination that solves the Sims 4 NPC appearance problem once and for all. This is more than just a simple mods list; it is a complete "assembly line" for creating attractive, realistic NPCs, and it works in three stages. I'm sharing this solution with you!

How does our Sims 4 "assembly line" work for NPC creation?

We are going to make The Sims 4 generate NPCs according to clear, consistent rules, step by step:

  • Stage 1: Genetics – First, we configure the sim’s foundation with improved facial features, realistic skin tone, and attractive body type.
    • Stage 2: Blank Canvas – Next, we remove all "visual clutter" like goofy hairstyles, random makeup, weird tattoos, and unnecessary accessories from randomly generated Sims 4 NPCs.
      • Stage 3: Stylist – Finally, we take the "blank slate" sim and use the MC Command Center to dress them in cohesive, stylish outfits.

Stage 1: Genetics – Creating a Decent NPC Foundation

Before we dress a Sim, we need their “base” to look right. These Sims 4 mods control the face, skin, and body the NPC will appear with.

Better Looking Townies part 2 by SulSul (Face Presets)

This Sims 4 mod prevents the use of the most extreme and unrealistic face presets from EA. It makes Sims 4 NPC facial features more natural, proportionate, and human-like. (Download only the specific file shown in the screenshot below.)

Better Looking Townies part 3 by SulSul (Skin Tones)

Removes unnatural skin tones (like blue, green, or bright red) from random NPC generation for regular sims. Aliens will still generate with their proper alien skin – no worries!

IMPORTANT!! The author provides three versions of skin tones. Only download the one you prefer!

DeTownify Maxis by SimplifiedModding (Body Type)

This is a set of files that hides certain default Maxis body shapes from random generation in The Sims 4. If you dislike some default body types, this mod will prevent them from appearing on randomly created NPCs.

IMPORTANT!! The author has three files for download: Files 1 and 2 (male and female body presets), which you should cross-check in the included table in file 3 to select only the ones you DO NOT want to see on sims NPCs during random generation.

Stage 1 result: Now we have a “mannequin” sim with normal facial features, a natural skin tone, and a solid body type.

Stage 2: Blank Canvas – Removing Sims 4 Visual Noise

Now that we have a good NPC “mannequin”, we need to strip off all the random things The Sims 4 adds by default.

No random Hair by tiasha (Smart Hairstyle Generation for NPCs)

This Sims 4 mod disables the most bizarre and immersion-breaking EA hairstyles from random appearance (such as mohawks, historical wigs, and other odd choices). NPCs will get normal, everyday hairstyles.

Important: The archive of this mod contains an addon, "No Female Body Hair", which disables the random body hair feature on female sims.

No Make-up & No Accessories on Random by simplyanjuta

This is one of the most crucial Sims 4 mods in the entire pack! It completely prevents the game from randomly giving NPCs: makeup, accessories (glasses, earrings, necklaces), tattoos, and hats.

Stage 2 result: Our “mannequin” Sims 4 NPC has a realistic hairstyle, a clean face and body (no makeup, no tattoos, no weird glasses), and is now ready to be dressed.

Stage 3: Stylist – Dressing Up Sims 4 NPCs

The foundation is set, and the visual noise is gone. Now, we need to deal with clothing. If we do nothing, Sims 4 will still dress the NPC in bizarre combinations like shorts and a blazer. This is where the MC Command Center comes in to save the day.

MCCC NPC Outfits by tiasha (NPC Outfit Configuration)

NOTE: This is not a typical mod, but rather a .cfg settings file for MC Command Center (MCCC). You must already have the Sims 4 MCCC mod installed.

This file tells MCCC to only use complete pre-made outfits or styled looks for NPCs, rather than random mixes of tops and bottoms.

Find detailed installation instructions and a collection of such settings files by following the link.

Stage 3 result: The issue is solved! MCCC takes our "clean mannequin" sim (from Stages 1 and 2) and dresses them in one of The Sims 4’s beautiful, coordinated outfits.

Installation Instructions for All Recommended Sims 4 Mods (Please Read Carefully!)

To ensure everything works together smoothly, strictly follow this order:

        1. If not already installed, download and install the MC Command Center (Sims 4 MCCC) mod (Sims 4 MC Command Center: Full Installation & Update Guide).

        2. Download all 6 required Sims 4 mod files from the list above.

        3. Place mods 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (all the .package files) into your Mods folder: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

(Tip: Create a specific folder, such as "Better NPC", to keep things organized – this is optional.)

        4. Place file 6 (the .cfg configuration file) INSIDE the MCCC folder, which is inside your Mods directory. Correct: Mods\MCCC(command center)\mc_dresser.cfg. Incorrect: Mods\mc_dresser.cfg

        5. Launch The Sims 4 and, in the game settings (Game Options -> Other), make sure the boxes "Enable Custom Content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed" are checked.

        6. Restart your Sims 4 game. Enjoy your improved, more realistic NPCs!

That's it! With this pack, your town will transform, and its residents will finally be pleasant to look at.

Hugs to everyone! Have a great game, lag-free and bug-free, with beautiful NPCs!

        With love, your Sabri!
