Urban Refined: New CAS Set in The Sims 4 Marketplace by TwistedCat
For the first time in a long time, The Sims 4 Marketplace received only one new set in a week. Throughout April, the platform delighted players with two sets every Thursday, but on April 30 a single CAS collection was released — "Urban Refined" by the well‑known creator TwistedCat. And although visually it looks nicer than the previous sets with power outlets, the price still raises questions among the community.
Urban Refined by TwistedCat
Price: 400 Moola
TwistedCat is already familiar to players from the Lip Couture set released at the Marketplace's launch. Now the author has returned with a clothing collection in a "urban elegance" style.
What's inside: Urban Refined is modern clothing that combines elements of streetwear and elegance. The set includes items suitable for everyday life, casual gatherings, or even festivals. Judging by the description and images, the collection features distressed jeans, grunge‑chic elements, as well as pieces that can be easily mixed and matched by color and style.
The author emphasizes that the main highlight of the set is its versatility: "Each piece is designed to be versatile — whether you're dressing for everyday life, a casual hangout, or a lively festival."
The set is already available on the Marketplace for PC and Mac. Console players can also purchase it, since the Marketplace was recently launched on PlayStation and Xbox.
The Same Old Story: Price and Moola
The real cost of the set is $5, which is almost equal to the price of a full official Kit, which usually contains twice as many items. Users in the comments under the news never tire of repeating: "It looks better than power outlets, but the price still doesn't match the value compared to full‑fledged sets that offer at least twice as much for the same money."
Community Reaction
The new set was received with restraint. On the one hand, players acknowledge that "Urban Refined" looks high‑quality — especially compared to the decorative power outlets and switches that have recently flooded the Marketplace. On the other hand, the price of 400 Moola for a CAS collection, which judging by the screenshots doesn't have many items, is frustrating.
Many still point out that creators receive only 30% of sales, while EA takes 70%. Therefore, supporting through the Marketplace is primarily supporting the publisher, not the independent creator. "I'd rather donate directly to the author on Patreon than buy these sets with a surcharge," users write on social media.
Although "Urban Refined" is the only set this week, the Marketplace continues to live its own life. We have already written about:
- How the Marketplace was cracked 72 hours after launch.
- The community's reaction to the first sets, where players accused creators of copying existing items.
- The launch of the Marketplace itself with the Moola currency.
All these materials will help paint a complete picture of what is happening with the Marketplace in The Sims 4.
"Urban Refined" looks like a good set from a trusted creator. But the problem is not in the quality — it's in the system: the inconvenient currency, the mismatch between price and item count, and the unfair revenue split between EA and creators have not gone away. If you have already come to terms with the existence of the Marketplace and you like the collection's style, the set likely won't disappoint you. But if you are waiting for change — alas, it hasn't happened.
