The Sims 4 Marketplace Cracked Just 72 Hours After Launch

It took pirates only three days to crack The Sims 4 Marketplace. The first sets are already circulating online for free, and the person behind the hack has announced a system of “weekly drops” and a donation goal to unlock the entire catalog. EA has yet to comment on the situation.

What Happened?

On March 20, 2026 — exactly 72 hours after the Marketplace launched — a message appeared on a Discord server claiming that the platform’s protection had been breached. The hacker stated they had spent around $100 on “research” and were now ready to share the results with the community.

The first set to appear in the wild was Snazzy Living Room by Syboulette — a kit priced at 400 Moola (roughly $4). According to the announcement, the file is “fully cracked, tested, and ready for installation.”

How Will the Cracked Content Be Distributed?

The hacker proposed an unconventional scheme that sparked heated discussions:

Weekly drops. One free set will be released every Thursday between 16:00 and 18:00 Chile time (GMT‑3). The hacker explained that this timing allows players to test everything just in time for the weekend.

Community Quest: Global Unlock. If the community helps raise the $100 spent on the crack through donations, all sets will be released at once, no waiting required.

“I know many of you want everything right away — and that’s totally fine. That’s why I’m setting up a global goal. Once it’s met, the gates open for everyone, no matter the day.”

What Does the Community Think?

Reactions from players have been, to say the least, mixed. Comments under the news fell into several camps:

Those who are glad: many see this as “justice” or “karma” for EA, which in their view has been overly aggressive in monetizing the game. One user wrote: “All that money and time spent on greed, wasted. Love to see it.”

Defenders of creators: another part of the community points out that the victims aren’t just corporations but the actual content creators. “You’re not stealing from EA — you’re stealing from the creators who worked on these sets. This is wrong,” commenters argue.

Critics of the hacker: some pointed out the “irony” — a person cracks paid content and then asks for donations to distribute it. “Cracking DLC and then putting it behind a paywall? So EA is the bad guy?” players question.

In response, the hacker published a poem explaining their stance:

Digital Culture was born to be shared,

but the big companies locked it away.

Piracy is just the human gesture

of ensuring that culture remains accessible to everyone,

and not only to those who can afford the luxury of paying.

How Does This Relate to The Sims 3 Store?

For long-time fans of the franchise, the situation feels like déjà vu. Back in the day, content from The Sims 3 Store was also “decrapified” (a term pirates used for stripping files of account locks). Many users note that this crack strongly echoes those times.

EA’s Reaction — What’s Next?

So far, Electronic Arts has not made any official statement. Earlier, an insider report suggested that the company planned to “crack down on piracy” with the Marketplace launch. Yet in practice, the protection held for less than a week.

It’s worth noting that the cracked files are being distributed illegally, and we are not sharing links to them. Still, the fact that content EA tried to tightly lock into its ecosystem and virtual currency is already freely circulating online calls into question the long‑term viability of such a monetization model.

Whether the Marketplace will remain a “sacred cow” or share the fate of The Sims 3 Store — where paid sets have been freely available for years — remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the conflict between the corporation and the community has escalated to a new level.
