The Sims 4 February 19, 2026 Hotfix Is Out: Wedding and Family Tree Fixes
On February 19, 2026, Maxis released a small base game update for The Sims 4. According to the team, this hotfix targets two of the most frustrating problems from recent weeks: Sims freezing during weddings and another round of Family Tree bugs.
The most common issues players are seeing
The Family Tree has been one of the biggest pain points after the February patches — including for players running no mods or CC. Reports mention both visual glitches and incorrect relationship links.
UI and display problems
One example is shown below; the report was posted by ToutouXL on forums.ea.com.
The tree can “stretch out” and become hard to read:
Lines and portraits may overlap, making it difficult to understand who is related to whom. Some players also see unexplained UI elements (for example, “bars”), and the tree looks clearly broken:
Relationship and status errors
Some players report incorrect connections and “broken” branches where relationships display wrong. In certain cases, the Family Tree shows obvious visual errors — for example, it may look like a Sim is “married” to a child, even though that isn’t true in the save.
If it hurts you to look at this too, you can always track your dynasty’s history in our service. No overlapping nodes, mixed-up connections, or weird “bars” — just clean, easy-to-read family trees. Will this update affect mods and CC?
Since this hotfix is described as small and targeted, it’s expected to touch a minimal set of files and shouldn’t widely break recently updated mods. Still, it’s an update — so the usual caution applies. We covered this in a separate article.

- [EA Forums] Resolved an issue found in some save files where the game would freeze when Sims are getting married.
- Family Tree portraits will no longer overlap after a Spouse’s death when there’s a Secret Child.
- [EA Forums] Resolved an issue in some saves where missing connections were appearing in the Family Tree and Sims portraits were not highlighted when selected.
- [EA Forums] Resolved an issue where the game would stop responding when clicking on a Sim from the Family Tree in some save files.
