Music Den Kit in Sims 4: New Studio Set Arrives July 23
Maxis has announced a new kit for The Sims 4 — the Music Den Kit. The set, designed for creating the perfect space to listen to music and relax, will be released on July 23, 2026, on all platforms. The kit includes new musical instruments, decorative items, and soundproofing, and buyers will receive a bonus of 200 Moola for the Marketplace. However, the community is already divided: some are excited about the new content, while others are disappointed by the lack of new gameplay mechanics.
Earlier, we wrote about the upcoming July update with auto-save and memory optimization, as well as the developers' Q&A.
What We Know About the Music Den Kit
The new kit was announced on July 16, 2026, in the official Sims Discord server. Based on the first screenshots, the set is dedicated to creating a music room — a space where Sims can listen to, create, and enjoy music.
Shortly after, additional images surfaced online, published by the community SimFans.de:
According to the published images, the kit will include:
- A new synthesizer/keyboard instrument with a music stand;
- A new violin (the first since 2014);
- A guitar stand and sheet music stand;
- Vinyl records and other studio‑style items;
- Soundproofing panels for wall decoration;
- Retro furniture and decor items in a music studio style.
The kit will be available in several color variants — from bright blues to muted greens.
Price and Bonus
The Music Den Kit will cost $4.99 USD on all platforms — PC, Mac, and consoles. When purchasing and installing the kit, players will receive a bonus of 200 Moola (equivalent to $2), which can be spent in the Marketplace.
Community Reaction: A Divided Opinion
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions. Many players expressed hope that the kit would bring new musical instruments, but their fears were only partially confirmed.
Excitement and anticipation. Some players are genuinely happy about the new content. In the comments, it's noted that "finally there's a new violin — the first since 2014" and that "vinyl records and studio decor are a great addition for music rooms." One user wrote: "I'm a musician, and my birthday is the day before the release — perfect timing!".
Criticism over lack of new mechanics. However, many players are disappointed that the kit doesn't add new gameplay possibilities. Comments ask: "Why are we getting another decor pack instead of new instruments? Where are drums, saxophones, bass guitars, flutes? How cool would it be to set up a real jazz club with this kit?".
Others note that there's nothing fundamentally new in the set: "It's just recolored and repackaged old objects with no new gameplay." There are also opinions that this is another attempt by EA to avoid creating new animations and gameplay mechanics, as that would require more time and resources.
Hope for the future. Some players suggest that the Music Den Kit might be the start of a larger expansion: "Maybe this is preparation for a future music expansion pack where bands and vocalists will appear!".
The Music Den Kit will be released on July 23, 2026. It's not yet known whether Maxis plans to release similar themed kits in the future, but judging by the community's reaction, the demand for music‑related content — especially new gameplay instruments and mechanics — remains high.
