Sims 4 April 28 Update: Gallery Fixes and Moola Restoration on Consoles
On April 28, 2026, Electronic Arts and Maxis released a small update for The Sims 4 across all platforms — PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox. The hotfix is designed to address several irritating issues that emerged following the recent launch of the Marketplace on consoles. While not a major patch, it fixes a number of critical problems: from incorrect Gallery filtering to missing Moola currency for PlayStation players.
Earlier, we detailed the major April update that brought the Marketplace to consoles and fixed over 60 bugs. It seems an additional hotfix was necessary after all.
What Is This Update and What to Expect?
The April 28 hotfix is a planned update that the developers warned about in advance. Unlike the upcoming major May update, which community hints suggest could be one of the biggest this year, this patch is focused on resolving specific issues that arose after the previous release.
The update is available on all platforms and should not affect mods and custom content — at least, that's what EA believes. However, as always, it's recommended to disable mods before installing and wait for updates from creators.
Gallery Fixes
One of the main issues resolved by the hotfix concerned searching for content in the Gallery. Some players reported that search results didn't match their expectations — the creations they were looking for simply didn't appear. The developers identified the cause as incorrect filter behavior in certain situations.
It's important to note that no uploaded Gallery content was removed. All creations remain available to view, engage with, and download — they can now be found properly again.
Console Fixes
The bulk of the update focuses on bugs encountered by PlayStation and Xbox players after the Marketplace launch. Here's what was fixed:
Missing Moola on PlayStation
One of the most frustrating issues: some PlayStation players who purchased Moola currency didn't see it reflected in their in-game wallet balance. The developers identified the problem on their end and rolled out a backend update. Any purchases made from the PlayStation Store that hadn't shown up in-game will automatically reflect the next time you play. Impacted players have confirmed the issue is now resolved.
Unwanted New Content Notifications
Another common complaint involved persistent new content notifications. Some players reported that every time they started a new game session, the new content notification screens would display — even when they hadn't purchased anything new. The developers acknowledged this was not intentional, and the issue has now been resolved.
Soft Lock When Opening Gallery Uploads
Players using a controller reported that opening an upload while the Gallery was still populating would put the game into a soft lock, requiring a restart. This should no longer happen after the hotfix — you can now safely browse creations without waiting for the Gallery to fully load.
Missing 200 Moola Tier in the Japanese PlayStation Store
For some reason, the 200 Moola tier was missing for Simmers on the Japanese PlayStation Store. With this update, it is now available on all platforms in all territories.
Navigating from the Marketplace to the PlayStation Store
Some PlayStation players noticed that when navigating from the Marketplace to the PlayStation Store, they wouldn't see information about the pack they were interested in. This has been updated, and players will once again be presented with pack details on the PlayStation Store.
Technical Details and Connection to the May Update
Game version after the update: PC: 1.123.85.1020 / Mac: 1.123.85.1220 / Console: 2.32. The version numbering is identical to the patch released on April 16th (Version 1.123.85.1220), indicating that very few file changes were made.
Console players, especially on Xbox, may have noticed an unusually large download size. The developers explained this is due to the systems being updated and assured that the game's overall size will not increase.
It's important to emphasize that this hotfix is just a warm-up before the major update expected in early May 2026. According to hints from the community manager, the May patch could be so large that its patch notes won't fit in a standard EA forum post, and it may include numerous fixes, surprises, and possibly even free content for all players.
Is It Safe for Mods?
The developers have confirmed they don't expect any issues with mods and custom content after installing this update. EA_Cade, a community manager on Discord, officially stated that mods should not be impacted. Nevertheless, it's still good practice to back up your Mods folder and saves before updating.
The April 28 hotfix is a small but important update that addresses the most critical issues following the recent Marketplace launch on consoles. It's especially valuable for PlayStation players who experienced missing purchased currency and other annoying bugs. Now, all eyes are on the May update — and if the developers' hints are anything to go by, something much bigger is on the horizon.
