Paralives Patch 0.1.4: Water Bill Fixes, Cooking Improvements, and an Unpacking House
The Paralives developers have released a new update for PC and Mac — Patch 0.1.4. It doesn't add major features, but it does fix a number of annoying bugs that players have been reporting. Key changes include fixes for inflated water bills, improvements to the cooking system, and the addition of a house inspired by the Unpacking collaboration to the Lot Library.
What's New in Patch 0.1.4
Unpacking-Themed House in the Lot Library
To celebrate the recent collaboration with Witch Beam, the developers have added the house shown in the collaboration trailer to the Lot Library. You can now place it directly in your city without spending time building it.
Improved Tags for Mods in Steam Workshop
Content creators can now choose tags for their mods and custom content, making navigation through the Workshop easier. Authors of existing mods, households, and lots will need to edit them in-game to add the new tags.
Settings Reset Button
A button has been added to the Options menu that allows you to reset each setting to its default value — useful if you've been experimenting with parameters and want to revert everything back.
Major Fixes
Saves and Loading
- Improved the save system to reduce the risk of file corruption.
- When launching the game with mods, a "Loading mods…" screen now appears so you know what's happening.
Water Bills
Fixed a bug where flushing the toilet consumed too much water, leading to inflated bills. Other water bill issues are still being investigated.
Cooking
- If no counter space is available when a dish is finished, the food now automatically goes into the inventory instead of disappearing.
- Fixed an issue where two Parafolk couldn't take a serving from the same group meal.
- Fixed a bug where using the oven in a cramped space could interrupt the cooking process.
Infants, Toddlers, and Romance
- Adults now wait for a toddler's interaction to finish before picking them up from the high chair, avoiding animation problems.
- Fixed a bug where toddlers would sometimes play idle child animations, deforming their faces.
- "Try for a baby" is now correctly available only when one Parafolk can get pregnant and the other can impregnate. For incompatible couples, the option to adopt a child appears instead.
- Parafolk no longer retain the "Exclusive Lovers" status after a breakup.
- Fixed a bug where a character could get a wish to propose to someone they're already engaged to, or a wish to be in a relationship with someone who is already their lover.
Building and Interface
- Wall‑mounted TVs no longer disappear when wall visibility is turned off.
- Fixed an issue where furniture and Build Mode items would become non‑interactive after being placed in the inventory.
- When the 24‑hour time format is turned off, 12:00 AM now displays correctly (previously it showed 0:00 AM).
Paramaker (Character Editor)
- Under‑eye bags and wrinkles are no longer added to a Parafolk when randomizing outfits.
- When editing teeth in Paramaker, Parafolk now show their teeth so you can see the result.
World and Navigation
- Fixed a pathfinding issue that prevented Parafolk from entering the tunnel passage in the Industrial district.
- Fixed a bug where the L’Armoire store would load as already visited when starting a new game.
Community Center and Collecting
- Completing a food bundle at the Community Center now requires group portions of cooked meals instead of a single portion — making the task easier.
- Fixed a bug where paintings would lose their sale value when stored in inventory, which prevented completion of the "Art Bundle 2" at the Community Center.
Other
Fixed a bug that prevented Parafolk from practicing the triangle instrument.
Known Issues
The developers remind players that work on the game is ongoing. In rare cases, save files can still become corrupted — the team is working on a system that will keep multiple autosaves so you can revert to a previous version. Rare screen flashes may also occur — the developers have already fixed several such bugs, but they may still appear. Players with photosensitivity should be cautious.
The full list of known issues can be found in previous patch notes and posts.
Patch 0.1.4 is a small but important update that fixes dozens of annoying bugs. It's especially nice to see the developers responding quickly to player reports: inflated water bills, cooking problems, and save issues — all fixed within a few weeks of early access release. And the Unpacking house in the Lot Library is a nice bonus for those who love ready‑made builds.
