Paralives First Update: Full Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements List
Only four days have passed since the release of Paralives into early access, and the developers have already released the first major update. The version 0.1.2 patch, released on May 29, 2026, weighs about 460 MB and is aimed at fixing the most critical bugs players encountered. The focus is on fires, performance, interface, and quality of life. Also, the game has finally stopped scaring players with naked Charlie (almost).
Earlier, we already talked in detail about the residents of Melino, dynamic growth, and also wrote an instruction on how to add mods to Paralives.
Fires: Now You Can Extinguish, Not Just Run
The fire system was one of the most buggy in the first days of early access. Fire spread uncontrollably, firefighters didn’t arrive, and if they did, they didn’t put it out. Parafolk themselves would panic and refuse to follow commands.
In the new patch, the developers thoroughly reworked the system.
- Characters gained a chance to extinguish fire on their own, instead of just panicking or running away.
- Stairs no longer catch fire – this caused pathfinding issues when trying to put them out.
- Fire no longer spreads beyond your lot.
- Fixed issues that caused firefighters not to put out fires.
- Calling firefighters and extinguishing fires are now easier to perform and are not canceled by character panic.
This is an important step forward, but the developers acknowledge that the problem is not completely solved. The known issues state: “Fires are still difficult to handle.” If the fire does get out of control, you can use the ExtinguishAllFires cheat. We covered the full list of all cheats for Paralives in this article.
Performance and Stability
One of the main complaints from players concerned crashes and freezes. The developers implemented several key improvements.
- Fixed a memory leak, which should reduce the number of crashes.
- The operating system no longer shows a “Program not responding” message when loading into the main menu. In addition, initial loading time has been reduced by 20%.
- Reduced lag when town NPCs calculate paths around the city.
- Improved the save system, which should reduce the risk of file corruption. Fixed a bug where items would duplicate when changing color swatches and the copy could not be deleted.
Interface and Quality of Life
Many fixes were aimed at eliminating annoying little things that hindered comfortable gameplay.
- A special “Unstuck” button appeared in the ESC menu, which “unsticks” a stuck character.
- Fixed an error where some windows could not be closed.
- Letter from developers: an in‑game letter now correctly arrives in a new save.
- Motion sickness on the train: a curtain was added in Paramaker that covers the train windows to reduce motion sickness when rotating the camera.
- Disabled the “Embarrassed” emotion for sleeping and using the toilet outdoors, as the game sometimes mistakenly identified the area as an open space.
- Localization: fixed the ability to enter Chinese characters in Paramaker and other text fields. Added missing English strings.
- Vending machines: Parafolk no longer refuse to buy food from a vending machine when hungry.
- Characters no longer refuse to sleep on lounge chairs when tired.
- Astronomy club: fixed a bug where Parafolk would continue using the telescope after the event ended and the telescopes had disappeared.
Character Editor (Paramaker)
The character editor also received several important fixes.
- Lips no longer turn white when switching between presets.
- Parafolk no longer become naked when randomizing a character (goodbye, Charlie?).
- Fixed a bug where the relationship editing panel would remain open during the train introduction, blocking further progress.
- Fixed an error where characters would increase their personality level too quickly, leading to endless notifications.
Building and World
Fixed the grid rotation angle on some empty lots – it is now aligned with the street (the fix only works in new saves).
Updated and added names of some Patreon subscribers in the credits.
Known Issues: What They Are Still Working On
The developers honestly listed problems that are not yet resolved but are being worked on.
- Crashes and freezes – the patch should reduce them, but did not completely eliminate the problem.
- Lag in Live Mode – optimization will continue in the coming months.
- Saves not loading – investigating the cause; the current patch reduces the risk of future file corruption.
- Build Mode: advanced widget – items moved with it may not save their position after reloading; use with caution.
- Parafolk getting stuck – use the “Unstuck” button in the ESC menu.
- Parafolk thumbnails not updating – investigating.
- Input issues on Mac – working on a fix. Temporary solution: use a mouse instead of a trackpad.
Statistics and Roadmap
The developers reported that they have received more than 150,000 bug reports and suggestions. The team is using them to set priorities.
According to the roadmap, the first major update with new content will be released in Q4 2026. In the future, the game will receive free updates with weather, seasons, pools, pets, and other features.
The first Paralives patch is a confident step in the right direction. The developers responded quickly to the most critical bugs, especially the fire system and performance. The game has become more stable, loads faster, and the interface is clearer. Full stability is still far off, but the Paralives Studio team is proving they are ready to work with the community and fix errors quickly.
