New Gossip System in The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy
Right after publishing the Laundry List, the developers shared an intriguing post on X with the caption “Gossip! Scandal! Sims!”:
Here we see four magazine covers designed in the style of tabloid press and gossip columns. Let’s take a closer look at each one.
The first magazine issue featuring gossip about the future monarch
The magazine itself is called The Simsider. Does this mean the game will actually introduce a magazine or newspaper system that lets players keep up with the latest news, similar to how it worked in The Sims 3? Or is this simply a way to build hype by hinting at a new gossip mechanic and the exposure of other Sims’ secrets?
This issue invites us to read about who will win the fight for the crown and claim a comfortable seat on the throne. It also teases a piece of gossip: what happened to the former monarch, and who might be able to take their place today.
The second magazine issue with Cordelia V on the cover
Here, the focus shifts to scandals we already know all the details about thanks to this article. The headlines are genuinely eye-catching.
The third magazine issue about the disgrace of the Capp family
This cover shows a clearly embarrassed Virgilio alongside the bold headline “Capp outcast embarrasses family again,” and also reports on a royal statue vandalized by a mysterious culprit.
The fourth magazine issue featuring a scandal at the ball
This issue doesn’t single out anyone in particular. Apparently, a noble agreed to dance with a commoner, drawing gossip and condemnation. And while everyone was focused on that scandal, a thief managed to steal an entire fortune.
We can’t know for sure what the developers wanted to convey with this post, but it’s safe to assume it’s a teaser for a new gameplay mechanic that will be revealed in the future.
We’ll be waiting for more details!
