InZOI August Update: Fundamentals First, Bug Fixes, and Performance Improvements
The InZOI developers at Krafton have published a fresh developer diary, summarizing the results of the first half of the year and outlining plans for the August update. The focus remains on the "Fundamentals First" approach, bug fixing, stability improvements, and refining key game systems. According to producer Kjun, the team has completed about 40% of the year's goals, but there's still a lot of work ahead.
Earlier, we covered the InZOI June update with active schools and clothing stores in detail, as well as wrote about the team reorganization and the roadmap for the coming months.
40% of the Way: What's Been Done and What's Ahead
In his message from July 3, Kjun clarified the situation with the roadmap. The previous week, the team had published a long list of planned improvements. Some players interpreted this as a promise to include all items in the next update. Kjun clarified:
"The list we shared last week consists of items we are preparing with the goal of including them in the update at the end of August. Separately from that work, we are also continuing to develop the FF list in parallel. It is true that we have not been able to address as many FF items as we would have liked so far. However, around 40% of them have been handled, and there are many items we have not been able to disclose yet due to the update schedule and release order."
Thus, the August update will be an important milestone in the implementation of the annual roadmap, but it won't exhaust it completely. In the second half of the year, developers plan to focus even more on FF.
Stability and Bug Fixes
Kjun honestly admitted that in recent builds, the team is finding more bugs and stability issues than expected:
"As the person responsible for development, I find this situation deeply unfortunate, and it weighs heavily on me. Even today, we identified three new major issues, and we are preparing a hotfix by working on them over the weekend. With thousands of features in the game, even a single broken part can create a chain reaction of problems, which makes things difficult for the team."
Instead of rushing to add new features, the developers plan to focus on reducing bugs and improving stability. Kjun assured that the team will do everything possible to prove this with results:
"I feel like I may be repeating the same message every time, almost like 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf,' but this time, we will do our very best to prove it through results. I believe in the inZOI team."
New Features and Improvements in the InZOI August Update
In addition to fixes, the developers are preparing a number of specific improvements for the August patch.
Interface and Controls
Removing text previews at the bottom of the screen — they are planned to be moved to the phone on the right side of the interface (developers are asking for player feedback on this change).
The ESC key will now always function as a home button when using the cellphone menu.
To put away your phone, you can click the phone icon or press the shortcut "P" again.
Animations and Behavior
If your Zoi starts a conversation or interaction with a character who is already engaged with someone else, their dialogue will no longer be immediately interrupted — it will continue as your Zoi moves toward them.
Beanbags can now be used to watch televisions.
Adults will now always crouch when interacting with babies.
Babies interacting with televisions will now only engage when something is playing, not when the screen is blank.
The animations for Zois dying of natural causes (old age) have been adjusted and improved.
Customization and Character Editor
A cheat has been added to allow you to fully edit uncontrollable NPCs in the world.
Outfit indicators (for DLCs, new additions, and recolorable options) may be moved to the top left of each icon to reduce visual clutter in Create‑A‑Zoi.
There is now a separate and organized headwear category in accessories.
There is now a separate category and accessory slot for face masks.
A new tank top is being added.
A new short-medium bob haircut is being added.
Performance
Panning to different parts of the map will now only fully load assets once you've stopped over a specific position, reducing stuttering and frame rate drops that happen as the game loads items while panning around.
The August update will be an important milestone in InZOI's development. The developers are focusing on strengthening the game's foundation, fixing bugs, and improving performance, rather than on flashy new features. At the same time, the team continues to work on the long‑term goals outlined in the "Fundamentals First" roadmap.
While the exact release date for the August update is not yet known, based on the schedule, it should be expected at the end of the month. The developers also remind that they are preparing a hotfix to address three major issues discovered over the weekend.
