Free Sims 4 Update: New Clothing for All Sizes, Afro Hairstyle, and Starter Sims
On August 25, 2026, a new The Sims 4 update was released. Patch version 1.127.41.1030 (PC) / 1.127.41.1230 (Mac) / 2.38 (Console) brought long-awaited free Create-a-Sim items, new starter Sims, Marketplace performance improvements, and preparation for the upcoming Mean Girls and Clueless themed kits. The developers continue to delight players with free content, focusing on inclusivity and diversity.

New CAS Items in the Sims 4 Base Game
The main new feature of the update is six new clothing items, designed specifically to highlight the beauty of Sims of any body type.

Blouse and pants
Each item has 12 color swatches. Unlike previous updates where the same item was often added for both frame types, the items are now clearly separated into "feminine" and "masculine." However, if you remove the gender filters in CAS, they can be used for any body type.
New Afro-Textured Hairstyle
The most anticipated addition was the afro hairstyle, inspired by "natural hair sculpture." The developers describe it as "cosmic beauty with main character energy." The hairstyle has no overlays, making it versatile for any look. This is an important addition to the existing afro hairstyles in the base game.
New Starter Sims and Styled Looks
Along with the new clothing, five new Starter Sims were added to the game. These are ready-made characters without names or traits that appear when opening CAS to create a new household. They are designed to showcase the new outfits and inspire players to create their own stories. All new Starter Sims can also be downloaded from the Gallery.
In addition, Styled Looks have returned to the base game. Usually this feature is only updated with the release of new expansions, but now players can quickly dress their Sims using the new items. This also serves as a kind of "guide" to how the developers envision combining the new pieces.
Marketplace Performance Improvements
The update also optimizes the Marketplace's performance. Now, images in it are cached after the first view, which significantly speeds up page loading on repeat visits. The cache size does not exceed 250 MB, and unused images are automatically deleted after 14 days.
If issues arise with displaying images in the Marketplace, you can manually clear the cache using the cheat command clearonlinethumbnailcache true.
Bug Fixes
The developers also fixed several technical issues:
- Fixed one of the major crashes on PlayStation that could occur when launching the game.
- Fixed navigation issues in the Marketplace when using the right stick on gamepads.
- Fixed incorrect display of Marketplace pages when entering from CAS after a quick purchase.
Preparation for the Mean Girls and Clueless Kits
The update also prepares the game for the release of two collaboration kits: the Mean Girls Capsule Kit and the Clueless Capsule Kit, which will go on sale on August 27. Each kit will be dedicated to 90s and Y2K fashion and cost $3.99 USD.
Impact on Mods and CC
The developers warn that the update may affect the functionality of some mods and custom content. It is recommended to disable mods before installing the patch, back up the Mods folder and saves, and then wait for updates from the authors. However, according to preliminary data, no major changes that would break mods are expected.
The new update is the first step in a series of free drops that Maxis is preparing for players until the end of the year. The next major quality of life update is expected in September 2026.
