Paralives Update 0.1.8: Classic Camera, More Columns, and Preparation for a Big Content Update
The Paralives developers have released update 0.1.8, which marks the last "small" patch before transitioning to major content updates. The focus is on quality of life: an alternative camera mode, an increased number of columns in the menu, and reworked embarrassment animations. The team also fixed several annoying bugs, including TVs that refused to turn on and households that didn't free up homes after death.
Earlier, we covered the visual redesign of babies and other improvements in Paralives. The game continues to actively develop in early access.
Update Details
Patch 0.1.8, released on August 24, 2026, became an important milestone in Paralives' development. As the developers note, this is the last "smaller" update before the team focuses on the first major content addition, planned for the end of the year.
From now on, patches will be released less frequently, but the developers have promised to release hotfixes quickly for critical bugs.
Alternative Camera Mode
One of the most notable new features is the alternative camera. A "Classic" option has appeared in the settings menu, offering more familiar controls for genre fans: rotating the camera by holding the mouse wheel and moving it with the right button.
This mode is designed to make the game more comfortable for those accustomed to cameras from other life simulators and provides more flexibility in choosing a control style.
More Columns in Paramaker and Build Mode
The developers have expanded the number of displayed columns in the menu. You can now set up to 4 columns in Paramaker and up to 7 in Build Mode.

This significantly simplifies catalog navigation, especially for those who actively use mods and custom content. Even if a category doesn't have enough items to fill all columns, the interface will still display in the chosen format.
Updated Embarrassment Animations
The embarrassment emotion animations have been reworked to more accurately convey this feeling. The developers continue to work on making Parafolk look more natural and lively.
Bug Fixes
Patch 0.1.8 addresses a number of bugs that could spoil the gameplay experience.
TV and Radio Activation
Fixed an issue where TVs and radios stopped working in previous patches. Now, when turned on, the TV will show a random channel. However, as the developers note, the radio issue hasn't been fully resolved yet — it will be fixed in one of the upcoming hotfixes.
Sitting Animations for Children
Children will now sit on sofas correctly — animations that could look unnatural have been fixed.
Empty Houses After Death
A bug appeared in version 0.1.7: houses where all Parafolk died were not freed up and remained "occupied." This has now been fixed — such homes are once again available for move-in.
Character Death in Paramaker
Fixed a rare but serious bug where, under certain manipulations, time in Paramaker continued to pass, which could lead to a character's death right during creation.
We actually encountered this bug ourselves when creating paraselves for the team. It seems that was the first time the developers learned about this issue.
Visual Fixes
- Fixed mirror reflection errors
- Fixed defective roof tiles
- Stores no longer lose their promotional materials
Performance Optimization in Paralives
The developers continue to fight lag and stuttering. Patch 0.1.8 optimized:
- Loading of Parafolk animations
- Newspaper generation (this process should no longer cause stuttering)
- Building fading when the camera approaches
Despite the abundance of fixes, some problems still remain. The developers continue to look for ways to reproduce and fix them. In particular, as already mentioned, turning on the radio still works with errors.
Update 0.1.8 has become an important stage in Paralives' development. The team not only fixed errors and added useful features but also prepared the ground for big changes. The next major milestone will be the end of the year, when the first large-scale addition with new features and content is expected.
