Paralives News: New Child Animations
While we keep track of news from the world of life simulators, the Paralives team is showing us how their game is progressing — a new set of in-game animations has been released.
Although the game is still in development, each such update brings us closer to understanding how deep the immersion will be. This time, the focus is on children (Parafolks) and their activities.
Children's Activities
Developer Alice shared that creating animations for children was not only a technical challenge but also a great pleasure. The main goal is to give the little characters more individuality.
- Sandbox and Beach Games: Children can now build (and spectacularly destroy) sandcastles. Moreover, the animations vary so the action doesn’t look repetitive.
- Playground Games: Hopscotch with several types of jumps has been added.
- Cozy Moments: Drawing on the floor and incredibly cute interactions with plush toys — children can hug them, toss them, or "jump" with them.
- Natural Movement: Smooth transitions (for example, when a child gets up from their knees) and various "idle" animations have been added, from crossed arms to active gesturing.
Everyday Animations
In addition to kids’ fun, the team has added a number of basic actions that were missing for the game’s consistency. Now Parafolks can:
- knock on the door,
- wash the dishes.
What's Next
Alice also gave us a sneak peek at what’s coming up next for the team. The plans are ambitious:
- Cooking: We’ll soon see more food preparation animations.
- Emotions and Personality: After cooking, the developers will focus on animations related to Parafolk personalities and emotions.
- Early Access Priorities: The team emphasized that the primary focus is finishing those features that are critical for Early Access.
