Paralives July 2 Patch: Saves Are 15 Times Smaller, Autobackups, and New Customization Options

The Paralives developers have released a new update for early access. The patch, released on July 2, doesn't add major features but addresses several long‑standing issues: save files are now 15 times smaller, a multiple autobackup system has been added, and mod management and image customization have been improved. The developers have also added small but pleasant new features — from Paramaker music to new bathroom items.

Smaller Save Files and Autobackups

One of the most noticeable improvements is the optimization of save file sizes. Previously, they could weigh up to 500 MB, which was inconvenient for those who play actively and save often. Now, new save files will average just 30 MB — a 15‑fold difference.

The new autobackup system now stores not one, but the last three versions of each save file. If something goes wrong, you can always roll back to a previous version through the Load Game menu.

Steam Cloud support allows you to sync saves between different computers, which is convenient for those who play on multiple devices.

Lot Restoration and Paramaker Music

Lot restoration. You can now revert any lot to its original look — handy if you've been experimenting with building and want to reset everything.

Paramaker music. When zooming in on a character, the music changes to a simpler, softer version, creating a feeling of closeness with your Parafolk. A small but pleasant touch.

Editing appearance through mirrors and hospitals. You can now freely edit your character's appearance at any time by simply looking in a mirror or visiting a hospital/pharmacy. All Paramaker options are available except for changing name, personality, and life stage.

New Images and Item Customization

Around 40 new images have been added for picture frames. But more importantly, you can now add your own images not only to paintings but also to mugs, rugs, skateboards, curtains, cushions, and flags. This opens up endless customization possibilities.

New bathroom items. Four new items have been added: hand towels and bath towels — something that was sorely missing from the base game.

Mod Improvements

A "Toggle All On/Off" button has been added to the mods menu. This makes managing mods much easier, especially when you need to quickly disable everything for testing.

Gameplay Changes

Lateness penalty. If you cancel the "Go to Work" action and then send your Parafolk later, it now incurs a performance penalty.

Updated Paramaker UI. The developers removed the panel in the train in favor of curtains to improve interface readability.

New baby presets. New babies have been added to the randomizer to make their appearances more diverse.

Major Fixes

Bathroom embarrassment. Parafolk in a relationship will no longer become embarrassed when their partner is in the same bathroom while they're using the toilet.

Fixed missing eating animations when consuming food.

Art Bundle 2 at the Community Center now works correctly. The developers have also lowered the value of the painting needed to complete it.

Fires. Fixed rare cases where fire couldn't be put out on certain lots.

Utility bills. Water recyclers, wind turbines, and solar panels on your terrain now actually reduce your bills.

"Happy Marriage" life goal. "Propose" and "Elope" actions now properly complete the corresponding life goal.

Canceling "Go to Work/School" no longer queues the action every 20 minutes.

Roberto (the skill master at town hall) now displays correctly in the list.

Fixed an issue where some player Parafolk were being unloaded from the game.

Babies no longer have teeth (yes, that was a bug).

Buying a lot while sleeping or sitting no longer spawns characters in those positions.

Parafolk nicknames are now saved when a household is saved to your library.

Grass patches that couldn't be deleted have been removed from some lots.

Known Issues

The developers have honestly listed the problems they're still working on:

Some Parafolk get jealous when kissing their own partner.

Some players are unable to create new swatches for clothes and assets.

Canvases disappear when starting or completing a painting.

Some external mods and plugins may make all mods invisible both in menus and in-game.

The July 2 patch is an example of how the Paralives developers continue to improve the game, focusing not only on new features but also on stability and quality of life. Smaller save files, autobackups, and Steam Cloud are important steps for those who play long-term and don't want to lose progress. And the ability to customize items with your own images opens up new creative horizons.
