The Sim Supply Prison Challenge

Build and manage a prison, control your Warden and prisoners, earn money through workshops, and rehabilitate 15 inmates. Full rules, room requirements, and goals here.

The Prison Challenge, originally created by James Turner (The Sim Supply), is a unique and strategic challenge where you build and manage a prison. You take on the role of a Warden, overseeing a growing population of prisoners who must earn their keep through workshops while you work towards rehabilitation and financial goals. It's a test of management, planning, and a little bit of tough love.

Game Setup

Before you begin, you'll need to set up your game and prison:

  • Turn aging off for the active household;
    • Create one Sim to be your Warden. Their traits and aspirations do not matter – they are the overseer;
      • Use a maximum of $20,000 to create your prison. You can use the cheat freerealestate on to purchase any lot (a 50x50 lot is recommended);
        • Your prison must contain at least the following rooms to start with (more details below):
          1. One Cell
            1. Shower area
              1. Yard
                1. Canteen
                  1. Solitary
                    1. Workshop
                      1. Warden's Quarters

                        Enter the cheat testingcheats on and then the cheat money 1000. You must start with $1000 no matter what.

                        Once you have built everything you need, you may acquire one prisoner. You will need AllCheats by TwistedMexi to be able to use the cheat ‘Sims.spawn’ to add new prisoners to your household.

                        Rules

                        • You can use the cheat ‘testingcheats on’ to teleport your prisoners into solitary, but not for anything else;
                          • No other cheats are allowed;
                            • You can control the Warden like a normal Sim;
                              • You can only control one prisoner per day. All others must act autonomously;
                                • You cannot control the same prisoner two days in a row unless you have only one prisoner.
                                  • A "day" is from midnight to midnight.
                                    • You can check prisoners' needs at any time.
                                      • No Sims can have a career – you can only make money from your prisoners working in the workshops. You can run any or all of the workshops at once (e.g., one Sim is painting, one is writing, one is gardening, etc.). Each different type of workshop needs its own separate room (or fenced-off outdoor area for gardening).
                                        • You can expand the prison at any time using money you earn from the workshops.
                                          • Keep the prisoners alive. Make sure to feed them. The Warden can cook for the prisoners, or the prisoner you have control over for that day can.
                                            • Acquire more prisoners. You need $1000 per prisoner to acquire a new one. For example, if you have 1 prisoner, you need $1000 for a new prisoner; if you have 2, you need $2000; if you have 14, you need $14000. You must remove this amount from your game once you "purchase" a new prisoner using the money cheat. Before you can gain a new prisoner, you are required to have a cell for them, a shower for them (each prisoner needs their own shower), and a seat for them in the canteen to eat. You can only have a maximum of 10 prisoners at a time.
                                              • Rehabilitate Prisoners. To rehabilitate a prisoner, they must reach level 10 in any skill. They must then be released from the prison, and you cannot continue to use them to make more money. Once you release a prisoner, you can replace them with a new one.

                                                Goals

                                                1. Earn $50,000 from prisoners in Workshops.
                                                  1. Rehabilitate 15 prisoners.

                                                    Workshop: This is how you will earn money – your prisoners will work in these. Requirements: Indoors or Outdoors. Optional: Computers, Easels, Workbenches, Gardening equipment, Instruments.

                                                    Warden's Quarters: This is where your Warden will live – basically a regular home. Requirements: Indoors. Optional: Whatever you want.
