What’s New in The Sims 4 Patch (September 18, 2025)? Major Updates, Bugfixes & Features Overview
This update prepares the game for the launch of the Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack on October 2 and addresses a number of bugs we've already mentioned.
How to update The Sims 4
You can download the latest Sims 4 Update by checking for a Patch through the EA App, Steam or Epic Games launcher for Desktop. If you have Automatic Updates enabled the update will automatically download through your client program. In case your EA App is not working properly ensure you’ve cleared your app cache.
Mods & CC will be disabled by default after you first open up The Sims 4 after updating.
Since the new version of the game will be available on PC and Mac before it launches on PlayStation and Xbox on September 23, console players should use the PlayStation and Xbox filters in The Gallery until the update is released.

Playground Venue
New playgrounds are the best place for fun. Kids can spend a lot of time after school running, playing, and meeting other kids.

Event Planning: Venue Type Filter
Save time when planning an event: you can now choose only the venue types you need.

Play Pretend Interaction
Kids can now play various games with each other or by themselves. The "Play Pretend" interaction can be found under friendly interactions in the "Activities" section. Here are the available games:
- “Play Fairy Tale Castle”
- “Play House”
- “Play Space Explorer”
- “Play Pirate Adventure”
- “Play Island Castaway”
All games come with imaginary effects that only children can see.

Ecru Slouch Beanie Color
The developers have added a grayish-beige color swatch to the Base Game's Slouch Beanie in Create-A-Sim. It's available for teens, young adults, adults, and elders.

Cross-Pack
Soul Journey Optimization
Players with The Sims 4: Life and Death can earn satisfaction points for completing each stage of their Soul Path.
Merfolk Occult Bassinet
The Sims 4: Island Living now features the “Ocean’s Lullaby” Bassinet.

Memory Boost (Early Access) — Starting September 23

Beginning September 23, Windows players can opt into the Memory Boost. This mode improves game performance by optimizing memory usage, reducing lag, increasing frame rates, and preventing memory-related crashes.
In this mode, save files will receive a corresponding tag, and at least one save file without memory optimization will also be created, just in case.
Note: If you want to load a save created before using Memory Boost, make sure to disable the mode before launching that save to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Bug Fixes
Here are the bug fixes that we haven't mentioned before.
Base Game
- The ‘Diner’ outdoor sign now glows correctly.
- The infant’s ’bald’ eyebrows color swatches are now in the correct order.
- The floor texture of the following showers no longer flicker when the zoom is changed: Tranquil Waters Shower, Modern Grimpressions, Waterfall Shower, EZPZ Shower Stall, and It’s a Shower Trap.
- Nail polish will no longer change color of yfBody_SP18DressShirt.
- Mournful Memories Music Box no longer has a debug name and description on all except the main swatch.
- Curtains now move when using DX11.
- Death can no longer be avoided by scheduling an Event via the calendar on another lot during the death sequence.
- ymShoes_AnkleOxford_TrueBlack variant of this shoe no longer changes its shape compared to other variants.
Affecting Multiple Packs
- The texture no longer disappears when using yfTop_GP12SweaterVest with certain bottom assets.
- The texture no longer distorts when using ymBottom_SP56CK001ShortsRuffles with several top assets.
- The Undo button is now active when editing occult Sims in Create-A-Sim.
Island Living
- The Mermaid bassinet is now available in Buy mode like other bassinets.
- The water no longer flickers when Sim performs a snorkel interaction on the buoys in Sulani.
Life and Death
- YmHat_EP17ToqueDouble no longer clips with ears if they are sticking out.
- Sim no longer clips into the bar stools when read will interaction is performed in sitting posture.
- Soul’s Journey Progression no longer grants too many points.
- Sims no longer remain in Ghost form after deleting the ghost molecule in Create-A-Sim using the Undo button.
Vampires
- Vampire Sims no longer constantly disappear and reappear during interactions.
Paranormal
- All nail polish swatches now appear on nails when using yfBody_SP18DressShirt.
Outdoor Retreat
- GP01GenFern plants are no longer clipped when placed on a roof.
