The Sims Mobile Is Shutting Down: Final Update, Dates, and What’s Next
After seven years of updates, events, and countless stories, the The Sims Mobile team has shared some bittersweet news — the game is coming to an end.
On October 19, 2025, the developers announced that the update releasing on October 20, 2025, will be the final one. Then, on January 20, 2026, The Sims Mobile servers will be permanently shut down.
A Little Bit of History
Since its release in 2018, The Sims Mobile has become the go-to way for fans to carry the Sims universe in their pocket. Over the years, the game has received more than 50 updates, numerous events, and special challenges.

The TSM community has always been known for its creativity, kindness, and imagination — something the EA and PopCap teams celebrated in their farewell announcement.
What’s Included in the Final Update
The team wanted to end things on a positive note — giving players the chance to enjoy the game to the fullest one last time.
Starting October 20, 2025:
- Everyone will receive unlimited energy, making it easier to finish projects and enjoy the remaining months.
- In-app purchases will be disabled, but any existing SimCash, Simoleons, or tickets can still be used until January.
- The final lineup of events will kick off, including the Eerie Autumn Festival Pass, Cozier Home Sweet Treat Showdown, treasure hunts, and several Wumple’s Wishlist quests.

Key Dates
- October 20, 2025 – Final update available on the App Store and Google Play.
- October 21, 2025 – The Sims Mobile will be delisted from both stores. New players won’t be able to download it anymore, but those who already have the game can continue playing.
- January 6, 2026 – All Build Mode and Create-a-Sim items will be unlocked for everyone. No more level restrictions — build your dream home and design your perfect Sims!
- January 20, 2026 (1:59 PM UTC) – Server shutdown. After this time, The Sims Mobile will no longer be playable.
What Players Should Know
- You can keep playing until January 20, 2026, as long as you already have the game installed.
- All progress and data will be deleted after the shutdown since it’s stored on EA’s servers.
- Purchases made before October 20 will remain active until the servers close. Refunds will not be available afterward.
- If you want to keep The Sims Mobile on your device, make sure to download or update it before October 21.

What’s Next?
For many longtime players, this news didn’t come as a total surprise. Over the years, development on The Sims Mobile has gradually slowed down, and controversial changes — like pricey festival passes and paid color swatches — have pushed some fans away from the game’s original Maxis vision.
But the future of The Sims on mobile is far from over. EA has already announced The Sims Project Stories and The Sims Project Rene.
The first one appears to be a Sims Mobile-style game with a casual twist reminiscent of Gardenscapes. Project Rene, meanwhile, will bring The Sims experience across platforms — including smartphones — as an extension of its upcoming desktop and console versions.
And of course, The Sims FreePlay is still going strong, with a brand-new update released just a few days ago.
Although The Sims Mobile is coming to an end, its spirit lives on in the new Sims projects. So let’s look forward to what’s next!
