New Stairs and Family Trees: What Tomorrow’s The Sims 4 Update Brings
The Sims has released a teaser for a free The Sims 4 base game update, which will become available tomorrow for all players. The update focuses on several key improvements, including updated stairs and family trees, as well as new customization options and tools for creating more dramatic family stories.
The most important changes in this update affect stairs, which are receiving improvements aimed at making building more flexible and intuitive.
Family trees are also being updated, offering better ways to visualize relationships and create more complex and dramatic family dynamics.
In addition, the update introduces new tags, new nail options, and new ways to create family drama, expanding storytelling possibilities for players who enjoy generational gameplay.
It is also important to note that, as with any major base game update, most custom mods will temporarily break. Players are advised to disable mods before updating the game and check our separate article covering update preparation and mod compatibility.
Here’s what the developers said about tomorrow’s update:
Sul Sul, Simmers,
We have an upcoming Base Game update on February 3 that will bring improved and expanded functionality to family trees, genealogy and relationship data.
As this update will change core systems, our testing has shown this will affect mods that extend or interpret that data. This could impact your game in a range of ways; from missing relatives, unexpected relationship changes, or in a few cases, the game not launching.
If you use mods, we strongly recommend removing them before February 3 and waiting until the creators confirm compatibility. You can also check out The Sims 4 Mods & Custom Content forums for additional information from the community.
Thank you for your patience and for giving mod authors the time they need to update their work, helping ensure your Sims’ family stories continue smoothly.
So please be very careful.
