InZOI’s Massive April 29 Update: New Careers, Romance, Unreal Engine 5.6, and a Message from Kjun
The developers of InZOI have announced a major update that will be available this Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The patch includes numerous new careers, an overhauled customization system, expanded romantic interactions, and — most importantly — a technical upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.6. Additionally, the game will receive optimization for different hardware, support for new languages, and even a “report translation error” mechanic.
Release Date and What to Expect
The update arrives on April 29, 2026. According to the developers, this patch is one of the most extensive in terms of preparation, with the announcement video lasting nearly six minutes. The focus is not only on new content but also on serious work to improve stability and performance.
Several new careers: from hairdresser to programmer
The update introduces many active professions into the game that will significantly diversify the lives of Zois.
Hair Salon Owner / Stylist
Players can manage a hair salon, working as both the owner and a customer. If you run the salon and cut customers' hair, you choose the final hairstyle.
If your Zoi visits the salon as a client, you can request a specific style — but the final result depends on the stylist's skill level.
A dedicated hairstyling mode will appear in Create‑a‑Zoi, located right inside the salon. Success is determined by the stylist's skill.
Journalist
This new profession allows you to interview townspeople and write stories about them.
Your Zoi will explore city events and publish articles.
Researcher
The researcher career involves working on a specific formula — you can work day and night, with both successes and failures possible.
Coder
An active career focused on writing code at a desk.
Your Zoi can spend days programming.
Clothing Store Owner
Now you can open your own clothing store: place outfits on mannequins, and customers can try on and purchase items.
Customers don't even need to try on clothes if they feel “confident in their purchase.”
Customization and Create‑a‑Zoi Overhaul
Situational outfits (formal, athletic, sleepwear, etc.) are now located on the left side of the screen for better accessibility and visibility.
Hairstyles and makeup can now be changed per outfit, rather than globally across all situations.
Multiple outfit slots with the option to choose a “default look.”
Improved control gizmos in Build Mode and CAZ — they now follow mouse movements for more intuitive handling.
Building and New Assets
Build presets in a “Cozy European Countryside” style have been added to the cities of Dowon and Bliss Bay.
A new photo studio background in the same aesthetic for Create‑a‑Zoi.
Wristwatches with variations and color swatches.
Balaclava (ski mask) — becomes available when committing crimes.
The mask scares citizens, which may prevent them from reporting your offenses.
Balaclava also affects the likelihood that witnesses will not report crimes.
Romance, Family Events, and Social Mechanics
Conversation status for each participant is now visible in real time.
New intimate gestures and animations for romantic interactions.
Gender Reveal Party — can trigger both positive and negative reactions from attendees.
Optimization and the Move to Unreal Engine 5.6
This update upgrades InZOI to Unreal Engine 5.6, requiring substantial stabilization work:
- A new Optimization category in settings, where you can adjust “City Population Density” and “Animal Density.”
- Graphics settings will reset — you will need to reconfigure them after the update.
- A planned feature to save and share settings presets (not yet confirmed but in development).
- Keyboard customization moved to the main options menu.
- Mouse sensitivity now easier to adjust.
New Languages and AI‑Assisted Translation
Support for Turkish and Dutch has been added. The developers note that translations were done with AI assistance, as traditional methods might not have allowed them to meet the deadline. To fix potential errors, an in‑game tool is included: pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F9 lets you highlight text and report mistranslations.
Official Message from Kjun
At the end of the weekly developer diary, InZOI producer and director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim addressed the community. Here is his full message:
“Hello everyone, happy Friday.
We’ve had a very busy week preparing the build for next week’s update. This month in particular, we’ve been focusing development around the Unreal Engine 5.6 update that many of you helped test, with a strong emphasis on overall stability and optimization.
We’re improving the system so that settings can be better tailored to different hardware environments. On high‑end systems, the goal is to provide smoother performance, while on lower‑end systems, we’re working to maintain visual quality while ensuring stable gameplay.
However, as this update includes new features, there may be conflicts with existing settings. Because of this, you will need to reset your graphics options once after the update. We appreciate your understanding.
We are also working on a feature that allows graphics settings to be saved and shared. However, we cannot yet confirm whether this will be completed within the current schedule.
Our top priority through August will remain stability improvements.
We take seriously the areas where we have not been able to improve enough so far. For us as developers, a game is not just a finished product, but something we are continuously responsible for.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you.”

The April update for InZOI is one of the largest since the game’s early access release. It not only adds new careers, mechanics, and customization options but also lays a solid technical foundation for the future. The move to Unreal Engine 5.6, expanded optimization settings, and community feedback tools show that the developers are serious about long‑term support. This Wednesday, players will be able to experience all these new features firsthand.
