What to Expect from Future InZOI Updates
Krafton continues to actively develop its life simulator InZOI. After the first Early Access showcases, the team led by developer Kjun completely revised the project’s initial roadmap, shifting focus toward improving the core gameplay, character autonomy, optimization, and emotional depth of the game world.

A New Direction
Lead developer Kjun shared a series of discussionds and videos on Reddit (1, 2) and Discord, revealing how InZOI’s development approach is changing.
Previously, the team aimed for an “ideal simulation” with endless calculations — but that led to technical issues and system overloads. Now the focus is shifting toward a smart balance between realism and performance.
Some of these improvements are already live, while others will arrive in the December update.
Autonomy and Character Behavior
- Zois will now act more naturally: eating, cleaning, reacting to weather, shopping, and interacting with others.
- A dynamic needs system will adjust based on the selected day length (48 or 96 minutes).

The developers also confirmed work on an LLM-based AI system, allowing NPCs to remember relationships, emotions, and personal histories. This marks a big step toward a truly living world where events unfold independently of the player — as Kjun described, “a world similar to Ready Player One.”
Story Mode and Family Tree
The team plans to introduce a Story Mode — a narrative gameplay option with goals, life events, and emotional scenarios: from marriages and divorces to conflicts, tragedies, and random accidents.
Relationships between characters will become deeper, featuring jealousy, affairs, secrets, and even a genealogy tree that lets players track dynasties and generations.
Gameplay, Controls, and Interaction
- Teleportation has been added for faster travel.
- Swimming now begins automatically when approaching water.

- Players can switch between camera and character control using the WASD keys or arrows.

- Animations, facial expressions, and action timing have been improved for more expressive scenes and screenshots — including a new mirror photography effect.

- Collision physics have been added to various in-game objects.

- Sitting poses now look more natural and relaxed.

Building Mode and Visual Enhancements
The Build Mode received major updates:
- Detailed architecture and home design;

- Precise numerical wall measurements;

- An AI-assisted build tool for automation;

- Improved grid snapping and object alignment;

- Access to developer assets via cheat codes;

- More options for interior customization.

Work is also underway on a new city area, offering plenty of empty lots for players who prefer to build from scratch.
Building details and LODs have been refined — inaccessible interiors now look more realistic, and the world visuals are livelier, with enhanced beaches, turtles, plants, and textures.

Character Creation and Customization (CAZ)
- More content is being developed for children and infants — including new outfits and more realistic proportions.
- New accessories have been added.

- New hairstyles (including balding types) have been added as well.

- The outfit and makeup systems have been improved, with makeup presets and the ability to link outfits to looks.

- A bug causing body parts to clip through clothing has been fixed.

- Several new outfits have also been added.

Interface and Accessibility (UI/UX)
The Wants and Traits interfaces have been redesigned for a cleaner and more intuitive experience.

Added features include build mode map search, as well as a U hotkey to hide the entire interface — perfect for taking screenshots.
Future cheat options will allow age control, birthday skipping, and lifespan customization.
Seasonal Events and Calendar System
To bring more variety, developers are introducing seasonal content.

The first event will be Halloween, featuring themed costumes, accessories, and decorations — including Jack-o’-lanterns.
These items will be available until December, then return through the upcoming calendar system, planned for the winter update.

New Gameplay Events: Burglars and Prison
One of the most talked-about additions is the new burglary mechanic.

If a character fails to defend their home, burglars can steal money or valuables. Players can call the police to have the thief arrested.
Additionally, there are now new prison interactions for characters who end up behind bars.

Optimization and Technical Improvements
- The team is committed to keeping InZOI a fully open world without loading screens, while optimizing it for low-end PCs and Mac devices with M1 chips.
- Instanced interiors are being explored to maintain immersion without sacrificing performance.
- Major bugs — like spouses suddenly becoming relatives — are being fixed.
- New ModKit video tutorials are also in production.

We’ll keep an eye on InZOI updates, as Kjun has promised to share weekly development news.
