New Paralives Animations: Newspapers, Snacks, Wells, and Walks — The City Comes Alive 1.5 Months Before Release
With just over a month until early access, the Paralives team continues to share new details. In a fresh Patreon post, animator Alice showcased a set of city activities coming to the game.
Parafolk will be able to dig for treasure, toss coins into a wishing well, buy snacks from vending machines, and even walk differently depending on their mood and personality. The developers are also working on toddler animations, trash bin interactions, and have even designed their own Paralives board game.
What Was Shown in the New Video?
The video posted on Patreon features dozens of new animations.
Knock on Door — used by townies when they pay you a visit.
Throw Coin in Well — maybe it will bring your Parafolk a bit of luck.
Dig with Shovel — Parafolk digging up old chests hoping to improve the museum’s collection.
Dig with Bare Hands — for those who forgot their shovel.
Contemplate Art — Parafolk will enjoy looking at the museum’s collection (with pose variations).
Get Newspaper From Dispenser and Read Newspaper.
Get Snack From Vending Machine — a great way to grab a bite away from home.
Yoga Poses — several variations for relaxing outdoors.
Leisurely Walk — a separate animation for NPCs simply taking in the sights.
Different Walking Styles: How Personality Affects Gai
The "Leisurely Walk" animation deserves special attention. Previously, all Parafolk shared the same walking animation, which felt mechanical. Now the developers have added multiple walk styles that vary based on:
- A Parafolk's personality "vibes"
- Their current emotional state
- Their life stage
The new video only shows one variant — a slow, relaxed walk used randomly by NPCs in parks and other scenic spots. Other styles will be shown in future posts.
The Music in the Video
The background track was composed by developer Andrei. It's called "Headlines" and was created for the Paralives barbershop. The melody was previously featured in a separate post.
What Else Is in Development?
Since the last animation post back in October 2025, the team has added a huge number of new movements. They are now focused on making the city feel alive.
Upcoming plans include:
- More toddler animations
- Furniture interactions
- Searching through trash bins — for the more desperate Parafolk
- Designing a Paralives board game — animators Alice and Lina are working on it and say it's great fun
The new animation showcase is another sign that Paralives is approaching early access in a well‑polished state. City activities address the main complaint from testers: the world felt empty and non‑interactive. Now Parafolk will have many reasons to go outside, interact with their surroundings, and simply enjoy their time.
The developers remind us that everything shown is still a work in progress, and some animations are already being reworked. Still, it's clear that Paralives is shaping up to be one of the most detailed life simulations out there.
Paralives early access launches on May 25, 2026. The team promises to keep sharing details — and if this showcase is anything to go by, there's plenty more to come.
